February 18 is John Travolta’s birthday. I had a lot of choices when it came to which John Travolta costume I could re-create, in the end I went with the funniest I could think of, John Travolta cross-dressing. So today I have dressed up as Edna Turnblad from Hairspray. Please note that I tried to make a fat double-uber-chin by stuffing a skin coloured stocking with cotton. It may not be perfect, but hopefully causes a LOL.
February 17 is Paris Hilton’s birthday. Remember her? Remember ‘that’s hawt”? Good times, back in the early noughties. The awkward lean, duck lips combo is all because of her folks. I once said that I wanted to do for costumes what Paris Hilton did for sex tapes. Let’s hope if I do, there is a big more longevity to my career.
February 16 is Edgar Bergen’s birthday. Edgar was an American actor and radio performer who was best known as a ventriloquist. In honour of his birthday today I have dressed up as a Ventriloquist dummy. The crux to pulling off this costume was all in the makeup. I’ve uploaded a lot of close ups of the make-up for this reason so that you can get a good look at the highlights on my face that make me look fake….just like any Hollywood actress with botox (anyone over 25).
Today is Valentine’s day, a day where people express their love for one another in honour of St. Valentine who secretly wed soldiers who were forbidden to marry their lovers. In honour of this, I have dressed up as Cupid, the God of desire, erotic love and affection, often depicted as a cute cherub with a bow and arrow.
February is Stockard Channing’s birthday. Stockard is one of my favourite actresses of all time, I feel she (with Allison Janney and Jane Lynch) steal the show no matter what they’re in. While I had quite a few characters to choose with Miss Channing, I could not go past Rizzo from Grease. She is BY FAR the best/funniest character in that film, plus, now that i have this new short wig the world is my oyster! I’ve gone the classic black-on-black outfit from the school ‘Summer Lovin’ sequence of the film.

February 12 is Christina Ricci’s birthday, so today I have decided to dress up as one of my favourite characters as portrayed by Miss Ricci – Wednesday Addams. That whole movie was perfectly cast to be honest, I hope to one day be as hot of a Mortica as Angelica Houston was. But for now I’ll be the little creeper Wednesday. Creep face achieved with a mix of black make-up under-eye circles and cheekbone highlights with the acting talents of my inner stalker.
Today I took part in The Colour Run in Sydney. The Colour Run is a 5K fun-run where at upon entering each kilometre mark, a different colour dust is thrown at you. Once finished you then enter the finish festival where you get to unleash your colour pack amongst each other. You are supposed to wear white in order to get the full effect of the colour dust on your clothes, with this in mind I thought to dress up as an all white Ballerina, because what could be funner than jumping around in a tutu? Nothing. It is dubbed the funnest 5k run on the planet and I can vouch that this is true. I would highly recommend it and would do it again in a heartbeat. I’m pictured here with my good friends @martyPantaloons and @PatchworkDan.
February 9 is Carmen Miranda’s birthday. Carmen Miranda was a Portuguese-born Brazilian samba singer, dancer, Broadway actress, and film star who was popular in the 1940’s and 1950’s. She is best known in popular culture from her signature fruit hat worn in the 1943 movie The Gang’s All Here. Therefore pulling off this outfit hinged ENTIRELY on the creation of said fruit hat….and let me tell you it wasn’t easy. First off I had to go to FIVE different dollar stores before I could even find any fake fruit for which to get the materials for the hat. Then on today of a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius I had to sit and anxiously arrange, tape and somehow affix said fruit to my head. In the end I had to lean it against a teased bun that I elastic-ed it too and then secured with my head scarf. If I was ever unsure of my poise, I am no longer. Hope it was worth the effort!
