Day 277: Game of Thrones

Day 277: Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones Season 3 is set to return to American screens on March 31st which is why I’ve decided to take it on as my theme today. I have dressed as Daenerys Targaryen, also known as Daenerys Stormborn and the dragon queen, who is my favourite character in the series.

Day 275: The Room

Day 275: The Room

At the birthday request of my friend, today I take on the theme of The Room. The Room is a 2003 American independent romantic drama film starring Tommy Wiseau, who also wrote, directed, and produced the feature.  While the film is about a melodramatic love triangle between Wiseau, his fiance and his best friend, a significant portion of the film is dedicated to a series of unrelated subplots involving friends and family of the main character. This has led to the film being dubbed as “the Citizen Kane of bad movies” and one of the worst films ever made. It now has a major cult following that with fans for the humour found in the bizarre storytelling and various flaws. This film is hilariously bad and I HIGHLY recommend that you watch it, then and only then, will you understand my dressing as Tommy in a tuxedo, holding a football.

Day 274: Lady Gaga

Day 274: Lady Gaga

March 28 is Lady Gaga’s birthday. Lady Gaga is a woman of many looks and styles, so it was a hard to choose just ONE to recreate today. In the end I decided to pursue one of her more iconic looks that was taken up into popular culture and seen out and about in the public – the hair bow look.

Day 273: Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen

Day 273: Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen

March 27 is Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s birthday. Who is that you ask? Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was a German physicist, who produced and detected electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range… more commonly known today as X-rays. With his birthday as my theme for today, I have dressed up in my X-ray morphsuit from Smiffy’s. What could be better than seeing me in a ridiculous creepy morphsuit taking on life’s mundane tasks? Not much (I hope).

Day 272: Diana Ross

Day 272: Diana Ross

March 26 is Diana Ross’ birthday, in celebration of that I have decided to dress as her. Of course if you’re going to do Diana Ross the costume comes down to the hair. Luckily I have naturally curly hair, so all I had to do to create her beautiful bouffant was take a brush to it.

Day 271: Tolkien Reading Day

Day 271: Tolkien Reading Day

March 25 is Tolkien Reading Day. Tolkien Reading Day is an annual event originally suggested by Sean Kirst (a columnist) and launched by The Tolkien Society in 2003. It aims to encourage the reading of J. R. R. Tolkien books. March 25 was chosen to mirror the fall of Sauron in The Lord of the Rings. With Tolkien as my theme, I have decided to take on the funniest/creepiest/most-dramatic character costume I could…Gollum/Smeagol. You can say a lot of things about me, but afraid to look ugly on the internet I am not.

Day 270: Video Games

Day 270: Video Games

Today I have dressed as Carmen Sandiego for a video gamed themed party that I have been invited to. Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego is hands down my favourite video game of all time, MS DOS style, so it was an obvious choice for me. It was my favourite computer game to play when growing up, but unfortunately the only geographical facts that retain in my memory is that Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and that the rupee is the currency of India.

Day 269: Ellen

Day 269: Ellen

Today Ellen DeGeneres held a last minute live show at the Fleet steps in Sydney. In my bid to get on her show I lined up from 6am as Ellen in order to get on Ellen. I didn’t end up getting on the show, but everyone around me loved the costume and on the way home I was stopped by three separate groups of people and told that they saw me dancing on the Today show and that I was awesome. I’m putting this one down as a win regardless. I’m not gonna give up on getting on Ellen yet. Soon Ellen, soon.

Day 268: Scarface

Day 268: Scarface

In Australia on March 22 1984, Scarface was released. With this as my theme, I take on Michelle Pfeiffer’s character and have dressed as Elvira, Tony Montana’s wife, today. If you can’t tell, I love Michelle Pfeiffer, I just think she’s divine, and in this film her fashion style is off the charts. The outfit I’ve taken on is the infamous white suit and hat.
