Day 338: Hot Dog

Day 338: Hot Dog

On May 31 last year, The Guinness World Records certified the world record for most expensive hot dog at Capitol Dawg in Sacramento, California. The hot dog cost $145.49 and featured a grilled 18″ all-beef in natural casing frank from Chicago, served on a fresh baked herb and oil focaccia roll, spread with white truffle butter, then grilled.

So today in hat-tipping of this, I have dressed as a blinged-up hot dog. Werd.

p.s. When my workmate first saw me, she was like: “Oh I get it, you’re Snoop Dogg” … Hers is better

Day 337: Joan of Arc

Day 337: Joan of Arc

On May 30, 1431 in Rouen, France, Joan of Arc died. Joan of Arc was born in France and through divine guidance led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years’ War. Her demise came when she was captured by the Burgundians and was sold to the English. They then put her on trial for “insubordination and heterodoxy”. She was found guilty and was burned at the stake for heresy when she was 19 years old. Twenty-five years after her execution, an inquisitorial court authorized by Pope Callixtus III examined the trial, pronounced her innocent, and she was declared a martyr. Today I have dressed as Joan, who has since become a strong female role model/symbol.

Today is my friend Toms’ birthday. Toms helped me get on Sunrise, so I asked him if there was a theme he would like me to take for his birthday as a thank you, and he requested Big Bird….yesterday. So here is half a day turn-around Bird Bird costume.

Day 332: Return of the Jedi

On May 25, 1983, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi was released. While I have done a Star Wars theme previously, today I take on Return of the Jedi as my theme, with my costume representing an event within it specifically – the event obviously being Han Solo frozen in carbonite.

Day 330: Mary Poppins

Day 330: Mary Poppins

On May 23, 1973, Mary Poppins was re-released for the THIRD time after it’s initial release on August 27, 1964. Mary Poppins was a childhood favourite for many reasons, but let’s face it, the obvious was that she was “practically perfect in every way” and we shared the same name. A couple of years ago I went to see the stage play at the Capitol Theatre and was mesmerised all over again by the tale, so I course I could not end the year without taking her on as a costume.
