Today is the final day of MEME Week on Theme Me. I feel that I could almost go on forever re-creating these, but the fun had to end some day, and that day is today. So for my final MEME costume of the week, I have re-created the Joseph Ducreux Archaic Rap MEME. Joseph Ducreux was an eighteenth century French artist known for his unorthodox style of portrait paintings. One of his paintings, Self-portrait of the Artist in the Guise of a Mockingbird, has inspired a series of MEME’s where archaic reinterpretation of popular rap lyrics are superimposed over the original artwork. My favourite is the Get Low version. I didn’t know the background of this MEME until I researched it today, and it’s only made me love it more, I can’t believe how ahead of his time he was. This one goes out to you Joey.
Today for MEME week I take on the Chubby Bubbles MEME. Chubby Bubbles Girl is a photoshop meme based on a photograph of a girl running through a yard with a bubble maker in her hand. I cannot tell you how many times my brother and I tried to capture bubbles in this photo, that’s half an hour that we’ll never get back. Regardless I think I captured her spirit in the end, and I hope you do too.
For the fourth day of MEME Week I’ve decided to take on one of the most powerful women in the world – Hillary Clinton – in the Tumblr famous meme – Texts from Hillary. The blog was created by Adam Smith and Stacy Lambe who both work in public relations in Washington, D.C. On April 4th, 2012, the first image was posted to the Tumblr featuring Clinton’s photo paired with one of Obama texting. Within two days, the post received 9094 notes. A couple of my favourite versions of the meme have featured Mark Zuckerberg and Meryl Streep.
Today is the 300th day of my year-long challenge to dress up in a theme everyday. Ridiculous. Who ever thought that I’d last this long? (I did, haters did not) The funny thing is that I feel as if it’s gone really quickly. People ask me all the time if I’ll miss it when I’m done, I always say I won’t and that I’ll finally be able to get some sleep, but I guess I won’t really know until I’m done in 65 days time.
In the midst of MEME Week on this 300th day I have taken on a duel theme of 300 and MEME to re-create the the 300 film This is Spartaaaaaaaaa! meme.
For the second day of MEME week, I have decided to take on the McKayla Is Not Impressed MEME. The MEME is an image of McKayla Marmoney after she won the silver medal in the vault finals. Maroney was photographed on the medal podium while giving a brief look of disappointment with her lips pursed to the side. The image then sparked the blog: McKayla Is Not Impressed where McKayla’s image has been Photoshopped into various impressive places and situations, e.g. on top of the Great Wall of China and with the iPhone 5.
Chances are McKayla will not be impressed with my costume today.

Today is the first day of MEME week. Over the past couple of years internet memes have risen to great popularity as a way of communicating humour and parodying current events. A meme is defined as an element of a culture or behaviour that may be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation. With this as my underlying theme for the week, today I have dressed as Antoine Dodson who rose to fame in 2010 when he gave an interview on a local television program outlining the events of a home intrusion and attempted rape of his sister, Kelly Dodson. The interview became an Internet sensation and resulted in an Auto-Tuned song by The Gregory Brothers that has sold thousands of copies on iTunes and appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 list. You can watch the original news story and listen to the auto-tune track here. Get ready to hide yo kids and hide yo wife, coz I’m costuming every meme out here!
