About two weeks ago, I put it to Facebook in this post that I would dress up everyday in costume for the month of October if I received 100 likes. Thanks to the support of all of you I reached 100 likes – and then some! So today starts my month-long Halloween costume challenge, and I bring to you, Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice.

Lydia, played by Winona Ryder in the film, is a moody, angsty goth who feels isolated from the world. She is your classic Tim Burton character who is both strange and appealing. This super-easy homemade costume is perfect for Halloween and only requires a few key items to achieve:

• A black on black on black outfit
• Super pale make-up – including wearing concealer on your lips – highlighted by dark circles around your eyes
• A spiky fringe
• A camera
• A deflated sense of the world around you
