Today is the final day of MEME Week on Theme Me. I feel that I could almost go on forever re-creating these, but the fun had to end some day, and that day is today. So for my final MEME costume of the week, I have re-created the Joseph Ducreux Archaic Rap MEME. Joseph Ducreux was an eighteenth century French artist known for his unorthodox style of portrait paintings. One of his paintings, Self-portrait of the Artist in the Guise of a Mockingbird, has inspired a series of MEME’s where archaic reinterpretation of popular rap lyrics are superimposed over the original artwork. My favourite is the Get Low version. I didn’t know the background of this MEME until I researched it today, and it’s only made me love it more, I can’t believe how ahead of his time he was. This one goes out to you Joey.
