Day 225: Charles Dickens

Day 225: Charles Dickens

On February 7, 1812, Charles Dickens was born. Charles was an English writer who wrote some of the most memorable fictional characters and is generally regarded as the greatest novelist of the Victorian period. Amongst his work are the novels: Great Expectations, The Adventures of Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities and A Christmas Carol. Today I have decided to dress as the well-known character Miss Havisham from Great Expectations. Miss Havisham is a wealthy spinster who lives in a ruined mansion after being left at the alter. Humiliated and heartbroken from that day she never removed her wedding dress and turned into a reclusive and only allowed a few people to visit. I’ve tried to capture that anger and heartbreak in my costume today and think the highlight is the dead dried flowers that I was able to create.
