On February 6th 1935, the board game Monopoly first went on sale. Before being bought by Parker Brothers, the game was called “The Landlord’s Game” and was created by Elizabeth Magie to teach economy and land value tax. Initially Parker Brothers turned down the board game commenting that it was too complicated and took too long to finish. They later changed their mind based on it’s popularity in Pennsylvania. In honour of all the weeks spent playing this game with my brothers over the summer holidays, today I take on the theme of monopoly and have dressed as the Monopoly man – Rich Uncle Pennybags.
