On March 3, 1845, Florida became the 27th state of the United States of America so today I take on Florida as my theme. When I think of Florida, I automatically think of the episode of The Simpsons where Marge has a gambling problem and Homer has to help Lisa make her Florida state costume for school. It turns out so bad that she is chosen out, with Ralph, to win a prize for obviously having made their costume without the help of their parents.

How did you make the top of the iron board pad look like that?
Hi Krista,
It was the old padding of an ironing board – so the bit in-between the board and the cover. It was originally that grey weave/tweed colour, so it would be about buying a grey coloured padding. Or if you went to a fabric store they would probably stock like a thick tweed that you could use. If that wasn’t thick enough, you could staple it to cardboard so that it keeps a stiffness and shape of the costume. Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Mary
